Chemistry Education Research

Our group is primarily concerned with the investigation and development of meaningful learning environments for students in lower division undergraduate chemistry courses.
Current projects include:
  1. Students' conceptual understanding of fundamental chemistry concepts across general, organic and biochemistry course
  2. Development of interventions to address student misconceptions and difficulties in general and organic chemistry
  3. Student perceptions of the undergraduate chemistry project-based laboratory

Organic/Medicinal Chemistry

We are also interested in the design and synthesis of small molecules that target cancer and inflammatory diseases.
